Carbon intensity and Aga range cookers

The graphic below caught my eye earlier from the National Grid. It's a snapshot of yesterdays electricity generation. 57% from renewables and only 101gCO2/kwh UK wide.

My electric 'Heritage' model Aga range cooker, running on Electrikit, used 14.66kw/h yesterday so was responsible for 1.48kg of CO2. Had it been running on oil still that figure would be 21.14kg of CO2.

A multi element electric cooker produced only 7% of the carbon of an oil cooker yesterday. Thats worth celebrating I think!
