The Giant's Causeway or A Bit Of An Aga Range Cooker

Can cast iron get too hot? Yes! And when it does it does this..

This is a part of an ash pit. The Ash Pit is the chamber/support for the barrel, and traditionally houses the ash pit grate {where you riddle the ashes} in solid fuel cookers.

We have seen cast behave like this before, but only in 'snug burner' pressure oil conversions. And then it was the barrel. You do see it too in the barrel with simple singular 13amp element systems that do not regulate temperature well. {another reason to convert!}

The side of the chamber has fractured and yielded, changing its molecular structure to create thousands of fissures like a volcanic landscape. This was a Standard Aga range cooker, solid fuel.
Katy Boys

Katy Boys

Katy is a rural girl at heart. She loves long walks, home cooking, paddling in rivers, warm fires and socks and stomping in leaves with her children. After studying ‘drawing stuff’ at university in Bath, Katy spent 10 years selling wares and managing folk at Habitat in Bath. Welcoming children into her world prompted her to return to drawing things, people and places from home. This led her to us at Blake & Bull and the rest is history. She draws our stuff, provides cuddles for the office dog, and is here to chat to you lovely lot.
