What are the running costs of an 'Electrikit' system for use with Aga range cookers?

‘Save 70% off your running costs’ is the 'Electrikit headline', what does that really mean? Is that possible?

If you are thinking about choosing Electrikit over OIL or Gas, first think about how you plan to use it, as this is what impacts your monthly bill most after tariff rates.

If you choose to run the Aga range cooker 24/7 'all on', then you will see less of a saving than others. But you can still save, especially if you are making the move from a simple singular 13amp system. {read more here}

Best practice is to use the Aga zonally, turning on the hotplates only when you need them.

A timer for your cast ovens may be beneficial if you have long gaps between your points of use, as it is 'worth' turning them off to save KWH.

However it is the opposite if you use the Aga regularly throughout the day, it is best to let the element regulate at a set temperature. The cast ovens are terrific at holding heat, so you will not use much power as it rests.

We have looked with some detail at the 'real' running costs for an electrikit Aga range cooker here on this blog - 'The real costs of running an Electrikit Aga range cooker'.
